Drumheller has been known as the home of prehistoric creatures. A few of those ancient creatures are still alive, right in downtown Drumheller at Reptile World.
Reptile World is the largest reptile exhibit in Canada. It features about 200 reptiles and amphibians including Fred the alligator, who tips the scale at 600 pounds.
“The space is great. There is room for more layout of cages and more space to do more school talks,” said Dave Bethel owner of Reptile World. Bethel also said that there is always someone on-hand to introduce visitors to Brittany, the friendly boa constrictor of Reptile World. The exhibit also features two Burmese pythons including Elizabeth who weighs in at up to 200 pounds (depending on when she is fed). Reptile World also boasts of a black mamba, one of the 20 most deadly snakes in the world.
