Ski hill offers year round facility

skihill.jpgNature enthusiasts it’s here… a year round recreation facility in Drumheller. This year marks the opening of the ski hill’s expansion to include year round activities for the entire family. This is one more tourist attraction to the Town’s list of must see and do in Drumheller.

Ride the Badlands - is a facility that offers scenic chair lift tours, hiking trails and in 2006 mountain bike trails. With the interest of cycling on a rapid increase, tourist destinations world wide are offering trails as part of their attractions. Bring a bite to eat and enjoy yourself in the picnic area or get your hiking shoes on and take a hike around the grounds before catching the chair lift to take in the spectacular sights.

Drumheller Valley Ski Club general manager Tara Semchuk said, “The tour consists of a twelve minute ride to the top of the hill to see one of the most breath taking views of the Valley.” Riders have the choice of staying on the chair and return back to the base, or unload at the top of the hill and take in the view or stop for a picnic lunch if they choose to bring one. Semchuk said, “Visitors are welcome to bring their pets along the hiking trails though we ask pet owners to be responsible and pick up after their pets along the trail.” She added, “In the spring of 2006 we will be opening our 15 mountain bike trails. Mountain bike enthusiasts will be delighted with the scenic trails that will be designed for all levels of mountain biking.”
