Drumheller Minor Hockey welcomes province

Drumheller is proud to host the Bantam B Provincial  Minor Hockey Championships and on Thursday night, March 17, they welcomed the 10 competing teams, including Drumheller's own Raptors at their Opening Ceremonies.

Paul Isaac, zone director welcomed the participants and hosted the ceremonial puck drop before Abby Fooks shared her musical stylings.

Dragons eliminated from playoffs after 6-1 loss against Canmore Monday night

The Drumheller Dragons’ 2015-2016 season has come to an end.
The Dragons ended their season in game four of a best of five series against the Canmore Eagles. The Eagles won game four Monday night with a 6-1 win taking a 3-1 win in the series.
The loan goal for the Dragons came from Joren Patenaude.

The series began Thursday evening (March 10) in Canmore where the Dragons took a 4-1 win. Connor Boyd, Clint Filbrandt, Keaton Holinaty and Trygve Many Guns scored the goals for the Dragons.

Friday night saw game two in Canmore and the Eagles turned the score around tying the series with a 5-2 win.

Sunday saw game three, the first home game in the series, and the Dragons battled hard.

Scott Ivey opened scoring for the home team in the first period, but the Eagles scored a power play goal at 2:35 of the second to tie the game.  Canmore scored one more goal before Filbrandt scored to tie the game at two goals a piece.

The third period included two quick goals from the Eagles before the Dragons tried to battle back with a third goal scored by Levi Wunder.

At 19:15 the Eagles scored an empty net goal to bring the final score to 5-3.

The Eagles will go on in the playoffs to play the Brooks Bandits.

The Drumheller Dragons face playoff elimination after a tough 5-3 game three loss on Sunday afternoon in Drumheller. The Dragons are facing the Canmore Eagles in the best of five series. The Eagles now lead the series 2 games to 1. 

Game four will take place Monday night at Drumheller Memorial Arena with a start time of 7 p.m. The box office will open at 6 p.m. for ticket purchases. 
If the Dragons take a win Monday night, the two teams will meet for game five in Canmore on Wednesday March 16. Game time Wednesday is 7 p.m.
