Junior B Dynos wrap up season

MESSOM

The DVSS junior girls Dynos wrapped up their season with a strong showing at their home tournament.
The team has been progressing and developing in teamwork and skill all season. Last Friday and Saturday, the Dynos hosted eight teams at a competitive home tournament.
The Dynos kicked off the tournament versus Linden on Friday afternoon and cruised to a 33-15 win. On Saturday morning, they faced Strathcona Tweedsmuir, but with a short bench, fell to 39-20.
This put them in the third place match to face Red Deer Lake.
“The girls kind of ran out of gas in the last game as we were down to 7 players for the Saturday,” said coach Jeff Messom.
The Dynos lost 39-21 to place fourth. Kate Messom, Randi Gill and Claire Suntjens were named game all stars.
Millarville School defeated Strathcona Tweedsmuir to win the tournament. Kate Messom was named as a tournament all star for DVSS.
For Messom, it was great way to end the season.
“That was our last tournament for the season, and I really like the progress our team made as for many of the girls this was their first experience at playing basketball,” he said. “My primary focus this year was teaching the fundamentals, but also teaching them about the game of basketball because it was new to so many of them.”
