BCF announces March Marathon Madness

Amber LeavittJens Madsen

Marathon Madness is the theme for  March, at the Badlands Community Facility (BCF).   Drumheller’s Dinosaur Valley  Half Marathon  Race Director Jens Madsen  came up with the idea, to encourage fitness  and be able to enter, free of charge, to  the 5K, 10K or the 21K runs.
The rules for Marathon Madness are straight forward, for example, if you run/walk 5 kilometers at the BCF in March, you win your entry fee for the 5 km Dinosaur Valley Half Marathon. Running or walking 10 or 21 kms at the BCF qualifies for winning the entry fee for the 10 and 21 km marathons.
BCF Acting Program Specialist Amber Leavitt told The Mail “17 runners have already signed up and it’s never too late to join. We also have the speakers series for the runners.  March 14 will be on massage benefits and the following Monday, a registered dietitian will talk about nutrition.”
The Dinosaur Valley Half Marathon is scheduled for September 11, 2016.  Proceeds will support local health and wellness initiatives.
