The Drumheller Dragons have made a trade with the Bonnyville Pontiacs for veteran forward Chad Hurtubise (’96) and in return the Pontiacs receive forward Trygve Many Guns (’98) and future considerations.
“We have been looking for another 20-year-old to help the other veterans on our young team and when Chad became available we didn’t hesitate to make the deal,” said Dragons head coach and GM, Brian Curran. “It was very important in what we are doing this season that the veteran we received was of strong character and had good leadership abilities, and we know we’ve gotten that in Chad. He also plays with an edge and competes hard every night.”
Hurtubise is a 6’3, 200-lb forward from Morrinville, AB. Last season with the Pontiacs he tallied 12 goals and 17 assists in 58 games.
The Dragons wish Many Guns all the best. “We thank him for his time here in Drumheller and I know he is going to a great organization,” said Curran.
Dragons fans can catch Hurtubise in action on Friday, September 23 for the Dragons’ home opener vs. Calgary Mustangs. Puck drop is 7:30pm. There is a home opener tailgate party before the game from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the BCF parking lot.
