The Canadian Badlands Passion Play is shooting another hole-in-one through their annual golf tournament this Friday, June 22. It is hoped the tournament will raise enough money for the completion of the new forum space.
The day is also a great chance for golfers and those who don’t golf to have some fun.
“It’s been running for many years every spring. It’s quite enjoyable. There’s a little competition, but for non golfers there’s a lot of fun stuff happening on various holes. There’s different things to do and draws going on,” said Vance Neudorf, executive director of the Passion Play.
Participants get 18 holes of golf at the Dinosaur Golf and Country Club, cart, breakfast, lunch, steak supper, and $100 tax receipt.
In years past, the tournament has generally raised between $15,000 to $20,000 for the Passion Play. Last year the money was used to purchase and install the state of the art sound system in the theatre. The new system allows the actors to be heard from any point on the stage.
This year, the focus is the new forum, which will be used to show smaller productions throughout the year, such as concerts or plays.
“At this point, we’re putting our energies toward finishing the forum space,” said Neudorf. “Progress has been pretty good. We’ve got all the blocks lined up in the seating area and are putting them in.”
Crews and volunteers are also busy putting the finishing touches throughout the theatre for this year’s Passion Play. A large altar has been added to the set and an expanded grassy area has been added to the set.
“There’s stuff around every corner, you turn around and there’s something going on,” said Neudorf.

“People come out and have a great time,” said Neudorf. “It’s a great way to support the Passion Play and a great way to have fun.”
