Highland Gala tops $7,800

All things Scottish were celebrated at the fifth Annual Highland Gala held at the Badlands Community Facility on January 16. The fundraiser for the East Coulee School Museum was well attended and raised $7,800 for its restoration fund.  One highlight of the evening was Don Brinkman leading the Address to a Haggis


Community helps students make Connections

A contingent of DVSS students is participating in the Connections program. Connections is a 5-credit extra-curricular course that promotes leadership and diversity. Students will participate in a week-long camp and then complete a service project in the community. Left, Joanne Contenti, right, from Scotiabank visited the school on Tuesday, February 4 to present a cheque for $440 to sponsor Jayden Wipf for her spot in the Connections Program. Pizza Hut also contributed $125 towards the program and, right, the Rotary Club donated $1,600 towards sponsoring the participants. Elks donate to Health Foundation for surgical tool

On Thursday, February 6, the Drumheller Area Health Foundation received a donation of $2,000 from the Alberta Elks Foundation and $3,000 from the Drumheller Elks #54 towards the purchase of a 5.3 mm Rod Lens Telescope System for the Drumheller Health Centre.  The Drumheller Area Health Foundation will also contribute $3,000 towards the cost of the Telescope System. The 5.3mm Rod Lens Telescope System will be utilized for intricate surgeries, where a patient’s wellbeing and surgical outcome is enhanced by clear laparoscopic vision during surgery. This telescope system will provide better imaging to improve diagnosis and treatment.
