Ladies’ range day coming up

The Drumheller and District Shooters Association is inviting women for a day of learning about firearms at its annual Ladies Range Day.
This is the sixth year for the event, and president Terry Koda says it is popular.
“We have had about 40 come out,” he explains, adding they get participants who are brand new, all the way up to more experienced shooters.
“We had some new people last year that were excited to come back this year.”
He says it is a good chance for women to get proper instruction on the use and handling of firearms.
“All of our people have taken courses and are range safety officers, so we know how to handle firearms, and we teach them how to properly shoot,” he said.
It is a one-day event on Saturday, August 10, and starts at 10 a.m. Participants have the opportunity for all kinds of activities, including the use of rifles, handguns, archery, and axe and knife throwing.
The day also includes a barbecue and is a fundraiser for the Drumheller and District Humane Society. The event is open to ladies 16 years and older. To register, go to www.d-dsa.ca/events
