Little Church vandalized over long weekend

The Little Church, a popular tourist stop along North Dinosaur Trail, has been given a sad makeover this past weekend.

Someone has put graffiti all over the interior of the church, most of which simply states "Grad 2012".

The identity of the vandal is unknown at this time. There exists the possibility that whoever did the graffiti may not be from Drumheller, or even the area.

"I know there has been much discussion lately about graffiti and grad. How unfortunate the two are related," said Roxanne Clark, office and membership coordinator of the Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce.

"Teenagers sometimes will do things without the larger ramifications in mind," said DVSS Curtis Lapierre. "It's something we greatly discourage."

Graffiti related to graduation is not uncommon and schools have been working with students to educate them on the impact associated with graffiti and vandalism.

The cost to clean up is not known at this time, but will require some repainting of the walls. The cross will present a greater challenge.

If anyone has any information they can contact Heather Bitz at the Chamber of Commerce, 403-823-8100, or the Drumheller RCMP at 403-823-7590.
