RCMP increase ATV enforcement within Drumheller boundaries

Many people within the town of Drumheller own one or more of all terrain vehicles (ATV) for recreational purposes.   Many, however, do not know the laws associated to their operation.

At present it is against the law to operate this type of vehicle within the town boundaries except on the Dirtbike/ATV track situated next to the Stampede grounds.

There have been many persons who have been using these vehicles  in the hills in behind Bankview and Greentree neighborhoods which is contrary to the bylaw.

This land is privately owned and there have been complaints received from the owners about these vehicles being used on this land in addition to the garbage left behind or dumped on the land.  As a result of these complaints there will be increased enforcement to deter the use.  Many are driving these vehicles down the back alleys to get to this area which is also contrary to law.

Any vehicles being operated contrary, are subject to seizure and removal at the expense of the owner.  The owner and/or  operator will also be liable for the appropriate charges under Provincial and Municipal law.

This land associated to these complaints is being posted as private property and any associated vehicles left on these private lands will also be subject to seizure and towing at the owners expense

Drumheller Off Road Vehicle Association (DORVA) operates a track near the Stampede Barn. It offers different terrains for dirtbikers of different experience levels and a UTV track.  Riders can use the track as members or may purchase day passes on weekends. To learn more about this association check their website, www.dorvamx.com.
