Boogie in the Badlands opens car show season

boogie.jpgDrumheller’s vintage and classic car enthusiasts, hot rod, and muscle car motorheads will get revved up for the 11th Annual Boogie in the Badlands Car Show on May 26th. Here’s your chance to show off that project car, work in progress or show car that never sees dirt on the pavement... or almost never.

This annual event draws entries and motoring enthusiasts from far and wide to participate for the show and shines’ coveted Best in Show trophy. Drumheller Chrysler on Highway 9 hosts and sponsors this event which is actively supported by Northern Mopar. “It’s always been a good show,” says owner Armand Tessier, “we get lots of vintage and muscle cars and have lots of room in the parking lot for more.” “Typically we have between 50 and 100 cars,” said organizer Ernie Sich. This fun filled day features action officially happening from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The car show is open to all kinds of special interest vehicles, so there is no telling what kind of surprises you’ll find there. “Competitors and spectators alike can grab a ballot and vote for their favourite vehicle,” said Sich.

The awards for Best in Show will be presented at about 2:30 p.m. This year the entry fee for the event is $5 and goes to a local charity. Boogie tunes will be supplied once again this year by Van Lawrence DJ Services, and the Nacmine Community Association will be running the barbecue. If you’re afraid of getting beat off the line or even at the top end, get the dust rag and polish out, you might just win the trophy in the lot.
