Come July 16, Hidden Valley Motorsports Park will be teeming with those who like to have some good clean fun by getting dirty. The Mud Bog is back; with a new location, and a new name. This will be the first year of the Clint Moar Memorial Mud Bog. For five years Clint built the successful event where four wheel drive enthusiasts and spectators came from all over to blast through the pit of mud on his property near the Bleriot Ferry. On June 19, 2004 Clint was involved in a fatal automobile accident. Last year the event did not run.
This year organizers have revived the event. “It will be from now on the Clint Moar Memorial Mud Bog,” said Patty Richardson who was involved in past mug bogs, and one of the organizers of this year’s event. The event in previous years drew big crowds and many entries. Larry Duxbury of the Drumheller Demolition Derby Club says this year should a success. “Clint created a great event,” he said. The gates open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, with races starting at 11 a.m. To find the Hidden Valley Motorsports Park, simply travel east from Drumheller on Highway 10 towards Rosedale, and look for the sign. If you pass the water treatment plant you have gone too far. The Motorsports Park will have an open concession, lounge and souvenir shop during the event.
The racing should be exciting. The mud pit has been broken in following opening day on May 28, and it proved to be a challenging course. Prepare to get stuck. They will be running all kinds of heats, from moderately modified trucks with a maximum of 35” tires to a no holds barred altered class with no tire size limits and virtually no fuel restrictions. Admission for the event is $10 per person over the age of 12. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. There are also family rates.
