Tourist information caboose open in Carbon

carbon.jpgOnce the last car on the train, the Carbon Caboose is open to make sure no tourist in the area is left behind. The caboose served as a tourist information centre about eight years ago. Since then it fell into disrepair. Archie Olhauser set to work this spring and restored it to pristine condition and it is open once again as a tourist information centre.

“It has tourist information and we are selling some items by local artists,” said Olhauser. The information centre is supported through the BoomTown Trail Association. It has free maps and information communities along the Highway 21. “We have a student working there and he can look up in the computer as to what’s going on in different towns in the area,” he said.

The centre is located on the corner of Bruce Avenue and Glengarry Street is open Fridays through Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can contact the centre at (403) 572-3004.
