Registration still open for lacrosse

    The Badlands Lacrosse Association is looking at mentoring its younger players with players at the more senor levels to help develop skills.
    Registration night and the Association’s AGM was on Tuesday, March 2, and while numbers appeared to be down slightly, registrations are still open and coming in daily.
    There are traveling teams at the novice, pee wee, bantam and midget levels. This year the tyke and mini tyke players will practice once a week and play some make up games.

2010 Carbon Curling Bonspiel results

    The Carbon Men’s Bonspiel was held at the beginning of February from Fenruary 9 to  13. Unfortunately, there were ice plant problems which prevented the finals from being played on Saturday afternoon. The bonspiel ended with everyone in good spirits and hopefully, next year the rink will be more forgiving.       The Carbon Ladies Bonspiel was held February 24 to 27 with a total of eight teams participating. The Gail Campbell rink from Drumheller won the first event and Deb Grosfield’s team from Carbon won the second event.  Heather Boyd’s team from Carbon won the third event and Jaclyn Canning’s team from Carbon won the fourth event.
    The Hawaiian theme was a huge success and many displayed a variety of tropical items from grass skirts, leis to flip flops!

St. Anthony’s Junior high basketball teams sweep championship night

    The St. Anthony’s Saints junior high basketball teams were victorious making a clean sweep of championship night last week in Hanna.
    Both the boys and girls teams were in action on Thursday ,February 25.
    The boy’s team was in tough according to coach Jay Mulgrew, as he displays the championship night trophy. The hardware is emblazoned with a score of plaques won by Hanna in previous seasons. This year was St. Anthony’s turn.
