Dragons add familiar name to ownership

knelsen.jpgThe Drumheller Dragons are very excited to announce there will be a new addition to the current ownership of the Alberta Junior Hockey League franchise.
Rod Knelsen, owner of LPR Concrete and local hockey enthusiast, has officially partnered with the Christianson family as owners of the Dragons.
The Knelsen name is synonymous with the Dragons Organization and success as all three of Rod’s sons have played games for the Dragons.
His two oldest sons, Brandon and Dion, earned Division 1 NCAA scholarships to the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks as members of the 2005/06 team. His youngest son, Kyle, plays for the UFA AAA Midget Bisons and has been a highly recruited prospect of the Dragons for the past two years, already recording his first AJHL point in his first game.
Knelsen will be joining the team as a managing partner, and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hockey club.
“Rod will bring a new and exciting hands-on approach to the team.  We are extremely pleased to have Rod join our organization," said Blair Christianson, Dragons' league governor.
The Dragons have been in the league since the 2003-2004 season.  The league governors will meet this weekend in Calgary during the All-Star break to put their final stamp of approval on the partnership.
