St. Anthony’s track athletes prepare for competition

    The St. Anthony’s Saints and Sabres are ready for the track and field season.

While they have a  small team, they hope to do well  next week in competition.
    The senior team has a slate of jumpers competing. Brandon Gruber is competing in the high jump. Emilie Toews is competing at the intermediate level. Brandon is also competing  in the triple jumped rounding out the field is Matt Russell who is competing in the long jump.
    Chelsea Murphy is running the 3,000m.
    The senior team will be competing at zones  on May 25 at Glenmore Athletic Park in Calgary. Coach Gavin Makse says all four athletes have a very good chance at excelling as they have been hitting personal best in training.
    The Saints junior high team, coached by  Shannon Doel  and Tom Stolz also look strong.
    Madison Colberg and Brian Weichel are running the 800m, Victoria Houghton is running the 100m. Travis Dietrich is competing in the long jump and Charlie Coates is  competing in the javelin event.
    The zone meet for the junior high team is on June 1 at Glenmore Athletic Park in Calgary. The athletes must first qualify by comparing their results with other athletes in the area.
