Dynos sweep Morrin tourney on Saturday

This past Saturday saw the DVSS Junior High Dynos travel to Morrin to participate in the Mustangs Invitational tournament.

The first game put them up against a team from Rosemary, the Dynos led for most of the game until with mere seconds left, when Rosemary sunk a two pointer to tie it at 46 and sent the game to overtime.
In overtime the Dynos pressed the whole fifth period, winning it 65 to 48. The next game saw the team up against a league opponent, Trochu.
This game was never in doubt as the Dynos won 52 to 22, and were able to get a lot of playing time out of our younger players.
However, it didn’t come without a bad loss, Matt Herman went down with an ankle injury, and was unable to play for the rest of the weekend. This left the Dynos a little short on the bench for the final against the host, Morrin Mustangs.
This game was a hard fought battle from the start against a much bigger team in both size and numbers. The Dynos played very good defense, and with some timely scoring, were able to stay ahead of the Mustangs.  However, John Russell suffered a bad hand injury that saw him sit out for a while to be attended to by Mr. Morrow.
Fortunately he was able to return after being taped up, but then we lost Justin Molzan to an ankle injury in the third period. In the fourth period they lost Sam Brown to a head injury, but that didn’t stop their resolve, the Dynos continued to battle, and ended up winning the game, and the tournament, 54 to 33. Many thanks to Zach Flater, Sam Brown, Travis Molzan, and Lincoln Linville for helping out our short bench on the weekend.
