Dynos to play for league championship

The DVSS senior boys basketball team have won their way into the Golden Hills league championship next Wednesday to take on Acme for the trophy.

The Dynos have been playing great basketball all season, and last week, with a win over PCA, they secured their spot in the championship game.
The team is undefeated in league play less one loss to Acme, when the two teams split. Acme has been just as dominant this season.
Over the last four seasons the Dynos boast a 39-2 league record.
The Dynos winning ways continued Monday night when they took on the St. Anthony’s Sabres in league play.  At the beginning it looked like it was going to be a close game. The two teams traded the lead throughout most of the first half. The Dynos were up by four points with seconds to go in the half, when Kyle Smith nailed a buzzer–beating three pointer from beyond the arch taking a seven point lead into the break.
The Dynos continued to play team basketball. They moved the ball well and on defence, did not allow the Sabres to get the ball anywhere near the paint as they went on to a 85-54 win. Smith had 22 points, while Jordan Britton had 21. The Dynos swept their two game series versus the Sabres.
While the Dynos are a young team, they have been playing well enough to earn an eighth place ranking in the province at the 2A level, and are looking for a strong showing at zones. This year’s zone tournament is on March 11 and 12 at St. Joseph’s Collegiate in Brooks.
