Dynos win consolation at Strathmore tourney

The DVSS senior boys Dynos basketball team are continuing their march into the post season after a consolation finish at a tournament in Strathmore.
On February 11 and 12, the DVSS Sr. Boys basketball team travelled to Strathmore to compete in a 3A boys basketball tournament.
In the first game the team went up against Barrhead Composite School, and after trailing by 10 points with two minutes left in the game the Dynos fought back to tie the game on two clutch Free throws by Kyle Smith to send the game into overtime.
However, in overtime the Dynos struggled to put the ball in the hoop and came up short with a 73 - 64 loss.
In the team’s second game, the Dynos matched up against West Central High, who has an honorable mention in 3A basketball. The Dynos rolled off to 31 to 17 point lead when foul trouble plagued the team. West Central managed to take advantage and closed the gap to 4 points going into half time.
The Dynos were out of sync offensively in the second half but strong defensive play and a key defensive stand by Dalton Smith in the last 20 seconds allowed  team Dynos to escape with a 58 to 57 point victory.
In the Consolation final, the team went up against the host school, The Strathmore Spartans, and in a hard fought game, the Dynos came away with a 62 -51 victory, and championship.
Kyle Smith who led the team in scoring all weekend was named Tournament All-Star.
