Dynos win silver at Delia tourney

 The DCHS Dynos Junior A girls volleyball team shined at tournament play over the weekend of October 24 in Delia. In a six team tournament, which included Delia, St. Anthony’s, Morrin, Oyen and Consort, the Dynos volleyed their way to the final versus Oyen and came home with a silver medal. Members of the team include coach Greg Janzen, Kendra Schmidt, Jaleesa Wescott, Cersten Peters, Chaylea Wurz, Madison Janzen, Alex Qually, Kaitlyn Thompson, McKenna Hawkins, and Allyson Campbell.     DCHS girls Basketball team will be flying to Kona, Hawaii for an international youth basketball tournament from December 26, 2009 to January 1, 2010.
    DCHS girls are representing the Drumheller community it is not a school trip.

 “Hopefully we will go on some tours of volcanoes and the area.  The girls are very excited,” said Hegberg.
    The girls needed to raise $22,000 for the entire trip and have worked hard with fundraisers such as bottle drives, pizza and bake sales, car washes, barbecues, pancake breakfasts, catering help, ticket sales, aerating and various other projects.
    “We still have about $7,000 left to raise and have been trying to find sponsors for help,” said Head coach Laura Hegberg
    DCHS girls are guaranteed 6 games against teams from across North America. There will be a dinner cruise on a multi million dollar yacht, a new years eve banquet and award night..
    Members of the team include, Cindy Sharpe, Chalene Keufler, Sam Seitz, Morgan Harvey, Paula Wade, Taylor Schellenberg, Jenna Hein, Brittany Morgan and Nikki Broom. They will be joined by head coach, Laura Hegberg and assistant coach, Rob Hegberg.
