The preseason is underway and the Drumheller Dragons are showing some bright spots.
The Dragons have two preseason games under their belt after completing a home and away series with the Camrose Kodiaks.
The Dragons were in Camrose on Thursday, August 29 to take on the Kodiaks. Camrose went up 3-1 in the first period. The Dragons opened the second period with a goal, but the Kodiaks answered back, ending the period 4-2.
The Dragons again struck first in the third period with two goals to tie the game at 4. The Kodiaks had the final say however and won 5-4.
On Friday night, August 30 the Dragons were back home. And they went on the offense. Camrose scored first, but Luke Fennig scored twice in the first four minutes of the second period to go up 2-1. The Kodiaks tied it but then Myles Hillman put the Dragons back up on top early in the third. Max Kathol made it 4-2 before Camrose found the net again. A goal by Eric Martin scored on an empty net, lead to a 5-3 win.
Tonight, Wednesday,
September 4, the Dragons are on the road to take on the defending champions Brooks Bandits. They are then in Stettler on September 6 to take on the Olds Grizzlys and wrap up exhibition play in Olds on Sunday, September 8.
