U14 soccer players off to district training

Players on the U14 team of Drumheller’s Minor Soccer League will start training this weekend for provincial team spots.
Coach Mark Olbrich said the U14s have completed their regular league games for the season, and some of the kids are off to Carstairs Sunday.
That’s when district practice for provincial team placement  starts.
The district coach selects a few players from each team to put together a Tier 3 soccer team.
“We’re probably going to have three or four of the girls try out and three or four of the boys try out,” said coach Ohlbrich.

He said the kids will practice in Carstairs every two weeks until about the end of July, and the provincials are held mid-August.
The U14 team was hard at practice Thursday  night in the cool, windy weather, at the soccer fields in the Hy-Grade Industrial Park
