Indoor soccer kicking off third season

For the third year in a row, Drumheller will welcome an indoor soccer program, for youth ages three to 17.

This year, the program will be held in the field house at the Badlands Community Facility (BCF).

“Last year we only had a taste of playing {at the facility} as it opened at the end of our season. We are very excited to be playing an entire season there this year,” said Mark Olbrich, coach of the Drumheller Raptors soccer team.

He said last year there was nearly double the kids participating than the first year of the program. They are hoping this season will yield similar results.

“We have had some interest from Hanna and Three Hills teams that wish to come and play, so we may even see a league this year that will have some out of town teams,” said Olbrich.

“It could be our best season yet.”

He said they are hoping to keep their regular Friday evening play time.

“We will need a lot of help if we get the growth we expect this year. Anyone wishing to get involved, even refereeing or coaching should come on down,” said Olbrich.

You can check out the indoor soccer program during registration, which will be happening at the Sports, Arts and Recreation Expo on September 5, from 3 p.m to 8 p.m. to  at the BCF.
