Drumheller Figure Skating Club gliding towards season start

As the summer comes to an end and the autumn air begins to creep down the valley walls, the time for many fall and winter recreational programs is near.

On September 18, figure skaters will hit the ice for the StarSkate program, offered by the Drumheller Figure Skating Club. The CanSkate program will begin later in the fall, commencing classes on October 10.

“We were able to keep our fees the same this year, which we were very pleased about,” said Suzette Lafreniere, president of the Drumheller Figure Skating Club.

She said the club is hoping to offer PowerSkating again this year, however if their coach is unable to return, then they will be forced to search for another.

“We would love to have him back but if he is unable to return then we are out one coach. We are just trying to figure out which direction to take from there,” said Lafreniere.

Thursdays and Fridays are StarSkate practice times, and CanSkate will take place on Wednesdays.

To register go to www.drumhellerskating.ca or you can check out the Drumheller Figure Skating Club on September 5 at the Sports, Arts and Recreation Expo, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Badlands Community Facility.
