Drumheller Raptors battle it out on the field

The wind howled across the field on Wednesday, June 6. Fans on the sidelines were buddled up in warm clothing and some had their hoods on to shield against the cool weather.

The Drumheller Raptors, U-12 soccer team, bravely faced the gusting wind to play the game they love.

Playing against the Three Hills B team, they managed to tie the game 2-2.

“The Raptors dominated the play for most of the game but just were not able to get the ball into the back of the Three Hills net [near the end],” said Mark Olbrich, coach of the Raptors.

Team captain, Ryan Hems, scored both goals for the Raptors during Wednesday’s game.

The team also played on Monday. June 4, against Linden. Unfortunately they lost 2-0.

“They started strong in the first half, but seemed to lose heart in the second half after Linden scored their first goal,” said Olbrich.

It will be the battle of Drumheller as the two U-12 teams vie for victory come June.18, at 7:15 on the Drumheller soccer fields.
