Dr. Boris Nahornick passed away peacefully at the Drumheller Continuing Care at the age of 87 years. Boris is survived by his daughter Bonnie Nahornick, step-son Byron Pliva (Tammy), sister Betty Kisilevich and husband Orest, sister-in-law Beryl Nahornick, sister-in-law Lynne Zacharuk and husband Blaine, brother-in-law Fred Shier (Kathleen), sister-in-law Irene Shier. Boris is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Boris was predeceased by his loving wife Colleen, brothers Jerry and Mike, sisters Elsie and Eva. There will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Recreational Therapy Department, Drumheller Hospital, 351 9 Street NW, Drumheller, Alberta T0J0Y1

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carol at the age of 71. She will be greatly missed by her husband of almost 49 years, Rollie, her 3 boys Tom (Stacey), Roger (Shannon), Christopher, 9 grandchildren Brody, Cass, Chance, Cheyenne, Elizabeth, Alyssa, Jusik, Sage, Kaden, her brothers Glen and Rick as well as many other family and friends. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Irene and Gilbert Evans and her sister Sandra Evans. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary and the Drumheller District Health Centre for their kindness and caring. A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 26 with a luncheon to follow for all her friends and family at the Rumsey Hall at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Rumsey Ag Society.

Betty Ryning of Rowley, beloved wife of the late John Ryning, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2nd at the age of 92 years. Betty was born in Nuneaton, England in 1926 to Frederick and Florence Marston. She lost her father at the age of three, several months before her sister was born, leaving her mom to raise four children on her own. Betty completed her nursing training at Tudor Grange. She nursed for several years in England before embarking on an adventure to Canada where she was a nurse at Drumheller Hospital. It was during her time there that she met John and they were married in 1960. Together they raised five children and farmed in the Rowley area. Betty was predeceased by her brothers Bob and Jim Marston, her husband John and her son Tim. She is survived by her sister Freda Belcher, her children Susan (Peter), Karen, David (Gisele), Andrea (Kyle) and daughter-in-law Darlene; by her grandchildren Corey, Alycia and Kaitlyn; Shivaughn and Isha; Julie; Jasmine and Rowan. Also by great-grandchildren Jase, Isla, Morris and Gus. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Miller Crossing Care Centre, the Shepherd’s Care Foundation and caregiver Ev Falsetti for their kindness and caring. Service was held on Saturday, September 8th at 2 p.m. in the Rowley Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
