September 2, 2018
Betty Ryning of Rowley, beloved wife of the late John Ryning, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2nd at the age of 92 years. Betty was born in Nuneaton, England in 1926 to Frederick and Florence Marston. She lost her father at the age of three, several months before her sister was born, leaving her mom to raise four children on her own. Betty completed her nursing training at Tudor Grange. She nursed for several years in England before embarking on an adventure to Canada where she was a nurse at Drumheller Hospital. It was during her time there that she met John and they were married in 1960. Together they raised five children and farmed in the Rowley area. Betty was predeceased by her brothers Bob and Jim Marston, her husband John and her son Tim. She is survived by her sister Freda Belcher, her children Susan (Peter), Karen, David (Gisele), Andrea (Kyle) and daughter-in-law Darlene; by her grandchildren Corey, Alycia and Kaitlyn; Shivaughn and Isha; Julie; Jasmine and Rowan. Also by great-grandchildren Jase, Isla, Morris and Gus. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Miller Crossing Care Centre, the Shepherd’s Care Foundation and caregiver Ev Falsetti for their kindness and caring. Service was held on Saturday, September 8th at 2 p.m. in the Rowley Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
