SANDERS
Lucille Mary Therese (Bedard)
December 7, 1945 - August 31, 2018
It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of the mother and dear wife of nearly 50 years, Lucille Sanders, on August 31st, 2018, ending a courageous four-year battle with breast cancer. It is a bitter sweet sense of loss but also a feeling of joy as she is now free from her many afflictions and is embraced in God’s love whom she cherished. Lucy was born on December 7th, 1945 to Rudy and Elisabeth Bedard in Douglas,
Ontario, the only daughter of four. She is survived by myself, Robert, her husband, her two endearing and loving sons,
Robert jr. (Shannon) and Mark (Natalie), along with her greatest joy, the grandchildren, Abigail, Liam & Molly-Mae. Lucy is also survived by her brothers Don (Maureen) Bedard, Barry (Theresa) Bedard, sister-in-law Brenda (Bob) Bedard, Peter (Marie) Bedard and the wealth of numerous family nieces and nephews. Lucy obtained her Medical Laboratory
Technology training in Winnipeg, and soon after moved to Calgary to secure employment at the Foothills Hospital.
Shortly thereafter, she put her career on hold when she married and immediately went globe trotting with Rob
on an overseas adventure while he worked abroad. Lucy started her family when Robert jr. was born in Penang,
Malaysia and Mark in Alicante, Spain; raising and dragging two boys over 4 continents and 12 countries in a seven year period. Finally returning to Canada, Lucy and family resided in Morrin but soon settled in Drumheller after she obtained employment with the Drumheller Regional Health Complex, retiring in 2014 with 33 years of service. She had great pride and fulfillment of a longstanding career in health care. The Sanders family would like to thank all who lovingly shared and helped in Lucy’s passing. In lieu of flowers and other tributes, those wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation, Cancer Clinic, 351-9th Street NW. A Celebration of Life will be held with a service mass at St. Anthony’s Church, 151-1st Street West, Drumheller, on Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 am. There will be refreshments in the Parish Hall thereafter.
