PATERSON, Geraldine “Gerry” (nee Cole)
Geraldine “Gerry” Paterson (nee Cole), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at age 73 years, on March 15, 2011 in Nidda, Germany. She was surrounded by her loving husband Barney, daughters Darlene and Wanda, and sons-in law Richard and Mark. Gerry was born in Drumheller, Alberta on March 7, 1938. She lived her earliest childhood years on the family farm in the Orkney community near Drumheller. At fourteen, she moved to Calgary, Alberta where she lived the rest of her life. Gerry was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in law, grandmother, sister and aunt; she loved spending time with her family and supported them in all their endeavors. Her great passions were playing golf and bridge with her many good friends. She took much pride in becoming a Bronze Life Master Bridge Player. In spite of this she played bridge at all levels for her love of her friends and her love of the game. Gerry is survived by her husband Dr. Barney Paterson; her loving daughters Darlene Faust and Wanda Eilers; one step-son Brian Paterson, sons-in law Richard Faust and Mark Eilers; also eight beautiful grandchildren, Tanis and Melanie Faust, Daphne, Juliette, Natalie and William Eilers, Vail and David Paterson; and two beautiful great-grandchildren Michael and Kia Paterson; brother Ross Cole, sister Dolores Collingridge, and sister-in-law Dorothy Ann Cole. She is pre-deceased by her parents Leonard and Ina Cole, sister Dorothy Greene and brother Doug Cole. A Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. will be followed by a Funeral Service held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. followed by reception, then procession to Graveside Service at Sarcee Butte Cemetery, Kneehill County, near Orkney, Alberta.
