April 14, 1910 - January 17, 2010
Born April 14, 1910, Elvine was raised on the family farm west of Big Valley, Alberta. She left the farm to work in Calgary where she went to school and attained her beauticians certificate. She worked for a number of years as a beautician in Calgary and in Castor before returning to the family farm to help her parents. She lived on the family farm until her own failing health made it necessary for her to move to the Heart Haven Lodge in Stettler. Unfortunately Elvine experienced a bad fall and had to move into continuing care. She was a resident of continuing care in the Drumheller Health Center where she loved being with her girls and was always so thankful for the wonderful care they gave her. Elvine had a wealth of life time experience that she loved to share with everyone. Elvine was predeceased by her husband Al Oliver, parents Jaan and Annette Kerbes, brothers John, Bert and Elmer Kerbes, sisters Rose Olsen and Beth Kerbes, son Tony Oliver and granddaughter Kim Oliver. She leaves to cherish her memory her grandson Jeff (Cindy) Oliver, granddaughters Susan (Jim) Maruzs and Dizintra (Klaus) Thiel, great-granddaughters Jasmine Oliver (Nick), and Ericka Maruzs (Travis), great-grandson Logan Maruzs, her “cherished little boy” great-great-grandson Riley Oliver, daughter-in-law Doreen Oliver and sister-in-law Marguarite Kerbes, nephew Hal (Kathi) Kerbes and their children Sarah and Hannah, niece Annette (Mike) Berry and their son Alexander as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Elvine will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at the Brennen Funeral Home Chapel in Stettler, Alberta on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. with the Rev. Susan Bowyer of the Big Valley United Church officiating. Immediately following the service a dinner will be served in the Brennen Funeral Home Reception area with Brenda Brinson graciously preparing the meal. As an expression of sympathy, and in loving memory of Elvine, memorial contributions may be made to the Continuing Care or the Recreational Therapy of the Drumheller Health Center in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O. Box 193 Stettler, Alberta TOC 2LO who are entrusted with the care and arrangements. Condolences can be e-mailed to brennenf@telusplanet.net. 1.888.942.3315 3c
