Condolences to the family of Darrel James Primrose

PrimroseD

Darrel James Primrose of Rumsey, Alberta unexpectedly passed away at the age of 60 years old. He was a beloved partner, brother, dad, uncle and grandfather.
Darrel was born in Stettler, Alberta, to Ron and Carol (McNeight) Primrose. They lived in the Rumsey Community area during his early school years then Ron and Carol made the decision to move up to Camrose to join in the family farming operation of the McNeights’. He attended school in Camrose until his high school years where he then transferred to the Stettler high School to complete his education. In 1980, his mom and dad had purchased a farm in the Botha area. Darrel loved farming so he couldn’t be happier farming alongside his dad and Grandpa Don.
In 1989, Darrel married Nadine Turner and they were blessed with two sons, Garret and Justin. They lived in Rumsey in the early days while Darrel drove truck. Eventually, his passion to farm brought him back to his dads farm at Botha. They enjoyed many happy years there. Life brought on many changes that eventually brought Darrel back to us in Rumsey where he purchased an acreage in the Northwest corner and settled in driving truck with Hodge Brothers and later with Sharpe’s Trucking Ltd.
Darrel’s favorite hobby/passion were his trucks. He knew more about trucks, tractors, farm equipment than most of us. If you needed advice before buying something, we all consulted Darrel. His favorite was his Old Red, 1976 GMC 1500, 4X4. Darrel had a love for the outdoors, farm sales, snowmobiling, camping and 4 wheeling. To head out to the west country to eat a hotdog, sit around the campfire and be with his favorite people was his idea of heaven. He loved his hotdogs. He was that kind of guy that always had a story to tell to family and friends and to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his loving partner, Christa Neufeld; sons Garret Primrose (Taylore) and granddaughter Hensley Primrose, Justin Primrose and stepson Jordan Verhoeven; sister Lori (Bob) Holm; nephews Stephan, Dylan, and Liam; aunts: Patricia (Charlie) Pierce, Irene Primrose and Myrna McNeight; cousins: Bradley Primrose, Greg Primrose, Shelley (Dave) Hodge, Connie Primrose (Jason Doyle), Brett (Brenda) Pierce, Wesley (Laura) Pierce and Jason Pierce, Darren (Sheila) Garbe and Susan Garbe. There are many more great aunts and great uncles plus several 2nd, 3rd, and 4th cousins. The family may be large but they were all very close so he will be sadly missed by all family and friends.
Darrel was predeceased by his father Ron in 1997; mother Carol McNeight in 1984; uncle Donnie Primrose in 2009; grandpa Donald Primrose in 2010 and grandma Helen (Clausen) 1987. Darrel’s grandpa Vernon McNeight passed away in 2001; grandma Isbele McNeight in 1977; uncle Ron McNeight in 2002; and aunt Shirley (McNeight) Garbe in 1980.
A Celebration of Life was held in Darrel’s Honor on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the Rumsey Community Hall, Rumsey, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that you donate to the Rumsey Fire Department, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice in Darrels’ memory.
