Condolences to the family of John Robert Carls

Mr. John Robert Carls of Drumheller, beloved husband of Inza Carls passed away after a lengthy illness in Red Deer, Alberta on January 22, 2024 at the age of 85 years.
John was born in Drumheller on August 24, 1938 to Frank and Anne Carls. He grew up in East Coulee, Alberta, taking all his schooling there. John married Inza Mattis in 1961 and they remained happily married for 62 years. John worked many years at the Cardwell Farms, moving to Westergard Motors obtaining his mechanics license, and moving on with Sandy Cunningham opening Tower Auto where he worked till he retired at the age of 65 years. After retiring he worked for Ace Reese and Cliff Young building window frames for display. John enjoyed many hobbies in his retirement, mechanical work, woodworking, and his “monster yard”. He was an active member of the Fish and Game Association. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and a lifetime of friends.
John leaves to mourn his wife Inza Carls, one son Wayne (Deanne) Carls, grandchildren; Nicole (Benjiman), Larissa (Code), Natasha, Nathan, Eric, Stephanie (Neil), great grandchildren; Emmalynn, Tayze, Rhiannon, Alexis, Peyton, Addy, Brooklyn, Presley, Parker, and Everleigh.
John was predeceased by his daughter Wendy (September 9, 1961 ~ December 20, 2004), his parents Frank and Anne Carls, his sister Louise (December 30, 2023) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial Service for John will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Rosedale Community Hall (Rosedale, Alberta). If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
A very big special thank you to Scott and Penny Head, Bonnie and Cliff Young, Dale and Suzanne Sands, Dr. Olfert and the nursing staff at the Drumheller Health Centre, Barb from the Associated Physicians Clinic, all of the ICU nurses and Doctors at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, and to all of John’s friends for the support and friendships over the years.
