PINTER
Chester James
June 21, 1932 - July 11, 2021
It is with great sorrow that the family of Chester (Geza) James Pinter announces his passing on July 11, 2021 at the age of 89. Chester passed away at the Foothills hospital in Calgary after a short fight following open heart by-pass surgery.
Chester was born in Drumheller on June 21, 1932 and spent his younger years in Rosedale, Alberta before moving to Drumheller. He obtained his Master Electrician Certificate from SAIT and eventually started Pinter & Campbell Electrical Contracting working throughout the valley and surrounding area. Rosedale was always home for Chester and he moved back to the family farm in 1972 where he stayed until his death.
Chester loved hunting and fishing and was a great innovator that could fix just about anything. People would come from far and wide to bring things for Chester to fix and he never turned anyone away. Chester was a lover of animals and the family always had pet dogs and cats.
In his later years Chester would spend his days fishing, building and fixing in his workshop, and visiting friends in long-term care being there for them until the end.
Chester is survived by his sons, David (Christine), Leslie and Jim (Janet), his grandson Karstien (Stephanie), great-grandchildren Grainger and Grace along with his long-time partner Joyce Lee and family. He was predeceased by his father Steve, mother Pearl, wife Annabelle (nee Carruthers) and daughter Shelly.
Thank you to all who have expressed sympathy to the family during this difficult time and also to the staff at the Drumheller Hospital and Foothills Hospital Unit 94 for their unselfish and tireless effort during Chester’s final days. Flowers are gratefully declined, instead donations in Chester’s name may be made to your local animal shelter.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
