Condolences to the family of PATRICIA ANGELICA CRANTON

DOVE 1

CRANTON, Patricia Angelica

It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our sister and dear friend, Patricia. Patricia was born in Hanna, Alberta, September 15, 1949. She started school at age 5 at Princeton, a one room school beside the family farm north of Craigmyle. Patricia spent her life in service to academia, going on to complete her BEd, MSc and PhD degrees. She taught at many universities in Canada and United States, including McGill, Brock, Penn State, St FX and Teacher’s College, New York. Her heart remained with the University of New Brunswick where she taught since 1988. Patricia touched the lives of many students over the years. She was one of the finest scholars in adult education with dozens of books and hundreds of publications to her name. Patricia was named to the Order of Canada for 2016 and was to receive the honour at the fall ceremony. She made her principle home in Indian Lake, New Brunswick for the past 30 years. She loved the solitude of the land and her faithful animal companions. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Helena Cranton, her son Bobby Burrows, her partner Merven Roy. She is survived by her granddaughter Sabrina Burrows, and her siblings, John, Carol and Michael. Patricia will be sorely missed by her family, friends, colleagues and her many students. McAdams Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. At this time there is no visitation or service. For those who wish, memorial tributes can be made to the Fredericton SPCA.
