HARDY, Glen Roy
July 21, 1939 - July 9, 2016
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Glen Roy Hardy on July 9, 1939 in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 76 years. Glen was born in Olds, Alberta on July 21, 1939 to Harold and Jane Hardy. Glen completed his schooling in Madden and then he attended Mount Royal College in Calgary. He then started working in the Glass Installation business, when that got to be hard on his hands, he began in the banking industry and finished his working career. Glen’s true passion was his membership and involvement with the Elks Club, he enjoyed all that surrounded the club. He was the Exalted Ruler, he rotated through all of the chairs. Glen was a member for 29 years, participating in numerous fundraisers. Glen was also a Legion member, and he helped with Meals on Wheels for 15 years. Glen loved the outdoors, R.V. camping in particular, he went camping with his friends, camping in various places including the Lions Campground, Rowley, Michichi and as far as the Yukon. He was known for his bacon cooking abilities (The Best Bacon Cooker at the camp site). Glen enjoyed tinkering, he was great at fixing broken things, he spent many an hour in his workshop. Glen was a kind and gentle person, he believed the best of everyone, he will be greatly missed by his loving family. Glen was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Isabella, and step daughter, Brenda Ritchie. Glen leaves to cherish his memory, his loving companion, Marie, two brothers, Neil (Sheila), Lyle (Esther), stepson, Alan Ritchie, grandchildren, Nicole (Torin Segstro), Scott (Tina), 6 great grandchildren, also loved by Marie’s family, granddaughters, Crystal (Luke) Hurley, Amanda (Dean) Morrison, Crystal & Luke’s twin boys, numerous nieces, nephews, and a life time of friends. Service of Remembrance will be held Friday July 22, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. from the Knox United Church. Those wishing to donate in Glen’s memory may do so to Habitat for Humanity or the Drumheller District Humane Society. Courtney- Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
