BRINTON, Verna Marie
May 3, 1929 - June 13, 2016
Verna, beloved wife of Howard “Howdy” Brinton (predeceased) of Strathmore, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Calgary on June 13, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Verna will be dearly missed by her children Wendy (Darryl) of Strathmore, Wayne (Colleen) and Earl (Dawn) both of Hussar, grandchildren Nadine (Todd) of Onoway, Devin (Jess) of St. Albert, Ty of Strathmore, Shaun and Shannon of Hussar, Tanner of Strathmore and Marcie of Bassano as well as great grandchildren Chance, Teyler and Bohdi of St. Albert. Verna will also be lovingly missed by cousins Gale (Bob) Telford of Strathmore, Julie Wilson of Calgary and various other relatives. Verna was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan on May 3, 1929 She met Howdy in Calgary and they married in November 1950. They started farming in the Hussar area. Verna was a member of The Farm Women’s Union of Alberta. With retirement they moved to Strathmore in 1992. Verna’s passion was baking desserts and if she knew you were coming, your favourite would be ready. She also loved her flower beds and garden. After moving to Strathmore, Verna met Marg Ireland and began a passion for quilting and tea. A Celebration of Verna’s Life was held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. If so desired, donations in Verna’s memory may be made to the Arthritis Society (#300, 1301—8 Street SW, Calgary, AB T2R 1B7).
