Elmer Ziegler passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the age of 86 years. Elmer is lovingly remembered by his wife, Bernice of 61 years; daughters, Susan (Randy) Gieck, Bonny (Brian) Miller; 4 grandchildren; Travis (Brenda) Gieck, Alisha Gieck, Dezerae Miller (Tyler Walton) and Tyrel Miller; 2 great grand daughters, Hannah and Emily Gieck, 1 brother Fred (Carol) Ziegler, 4 sisters, Lorraine Renn, Leah Cate, Anita Giesbrecht, Florence (Ken) Morgan and 1 sister-in-law Pat Ziegler as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Elmer was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Ida Ziegler, his brother Clifford Ziegler, and brothers-in-law Bill Renn, Gerald Cate, and Frank Giesbrecht and 1 grandson Dakota Miller. Elmer farmed in the Carbon area until his retirement in 1989 at which time he and Bernice moved to Drumheller. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, wood working, leather working and playing on his computers. As a young man he enjoyed wrestling, which he loved to tell stories about every time you went to visit him. Elmer enjoyed getting together with his family and was very proud of them all. He will be sadly missed. Funeral services for Mr. Elmer Ziegler were held Tuesday October 20, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from Zion Baptist Church, with interment at the Zion Baptist Church. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke foundation. Courtney-Winter’s were in care of the arrangements.
