Hope College has taken the formal steps to appeal the recent decision by the Board of the Rural Alberta Development Fund (RADF) to decline support for the proposal to launch Hope College in Drumheller.
“We had sought a response from Alberta Health Services (AHS) to our project back at the beginning of the year. One week after receiving the RADF decision to decline our proposal, we received a response from AHS which was very affirming of our project and its goals. We believe that this letter will provide a strong new piece of support to our RADF proposal and are hopeful that it will be more than sufficient for their Board to support reversing their decision,” Jon Ohlhauser.
The process for appealing an RADF decision begins with the submission of a formal letter indicating the intent to appeal. Hope College has submitted their letter of intention and is now putting together the material that will be considered by the RADF in appeal. Once the material is received, the RADF will form an appeal committee. The appeal committee chairman will be appointed by the RADF chair,
Jan Beeston, who is from Hanna and also serves as a community educational coordinator for Campus Alberta – Central. If the appeal committee determines that the appeal is justified, it will bring the proposal back to the full Board of the RADF for reconsideration. Because of the nature of the delivery of post-secondary education, Hope College has asked that this appeal process by expedited as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, Hope College has begun conversations with a select group of individuals who have indicated the possibility that they might be willing to support Hope College with its launch needs if the RADF decides not to reverse its decision.
