Highway 9 construction picks up

Motorists can expect detours, lane width reductions, and speed limit reductions on Highway 9 east of Beiseker.     Widening and reconstruction of 15 kilometres of Highway 9 begins May 13 from west of Highway 21 to east of Highway 836 between Beiseker and Drumheller.
Two-way traffic will be maintained on narrower lanes and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h through the construction zone. Work will be completed by July 15, weather permitting.
Motorists may wish to use Highway 575 as an alternate route to avoid the construction zone.
Motorists should use caution in the area and obey all signs, message boards, and flag people. Motorists are reminded that fines for speeding are doubled through construction zones when workers are present.
