The Board of Trustees of Golden Hills School Division is pleased to announce Mr. Bevan Daverne has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Schools and CEO for Golden Hills School Division No. 75 effective August 15, 2011.
For the past six years, Mr. Daverne has served as Division Principal for Golden Hills School Division.
“We were pleased that our Canada-wide advertising resulted in excellent applications from seven provinces and in four international applicants,” said Dave Price, chair of the Golden Hills Board of Trustees. “Mr. Daverne was selected from a field of truly outstanding candidates. We believe that his values and ethics, his strong work orientation, his ability to work collaboratively, and his belief in community engagement are an excellent fit for building on the current strengths of Golden Hills School Division.”
Mr. Daverne has a strong practical and theoretical background in educational leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (history major), a Bachelor of Education degree (science and social studies specialization), and a Master of Education degree (leadership focus). He is committed to moving the Division forward through the creation of enhanced educational opportunities for students.
“Our Division has earned a reputation for high standards, innovative programs and for being successful in the priorities we pursue. Though there is no doubt the road ahead will have many challenges, I feel very optimistic about the future of Golden Hills,” said Daverne. “The momentum we have gathered in the past few years to embrace change, work in teams and mobilize as a group towards common Division goals will provide the foundation for our future successes. We have a bright future in Golden Hills, and I look forward to exploring all our possibilities and our vision for our work with students.”
Mr. Daverne and his wife Lisa have two grown daughters, Cassi and Allie, both of whom are graduates of the Golden Hills school system. Deverne is a recreational soccer and hockey player and has undertaken many of his own home renovations. He enjoys sailing, drama and the arts as well as the occasional poker game. He loves tackling a new project and is a life-long learner.
In January of this year, It was announced that Dianne McBeth would be retiring as Superintendent of Golden Hills School Division. She served the School Division in this role for eight years. At the time of the announcement she agreed to stay on until a new superintendant would be appointed.
