On the evening of Friday, August 13, a multiple stabbing occured within the Drumheller Correctional facility.
An inmate was lifting weights while laying on a bench, when two other inmates approached the victim and stabbed him repeatedly in the abdomen.
The victim was taken to the Drumheller Health Centre and then transported by ground to Calgary.
Surgery was required to treat the inmates injuries.
He is currently listed as in stable condition.
The correctional facility has been locked down, and the suspects isolated.
The area was under video surveillance and charges are pending.
Names of those involved will be released when formal charges are made.
