New downtown parking lots alleviate parallel woes

Parallel parking in Drumheller’s downtown core is pleasing at least one member of the Downtown Merchants Association, with the recent addition of new parking lots located close to shops.

“I think it turned out really well actually,” says Reality Bytes owner and association member John Shoff.
“We’re waiting for the turn delay on the lights (leaving 3rd Ave.) to be adjusted, but that’s Alberta Transportation’s job,” he says. “Other than that I’m really happy with it.”
Reality Bytes is situated in front of the lights, which used to cause long cues of vehicles waiting to turn, but now Shoff believes the traffic flow of the downtown has gotten much smoother.
“It’s a lot easier to drive down that street now... it’s been pretty much solved. It will be even better when Alberta Transportation adds the turn delay.”
A representative from Alberta Transportation wasn’t able to be reached by press time.
