The memory of three young souls in the community who were lost tragically, lives on through the third annual 3 Angels Poker Run.
The annual motorcycle poker run and fundraiser was established to help the community heal, and it has done so. Along the way, it has raised funds for some great causes in the valley.
The third annual run will be held Saturday, August 19. Participants form up at the Last Chance Saloon in the morning and then at noon, head out on the Poker Chip Run.
The run is open to bikes or vehicles. They will set out on a scenic cruise in and out of the valley. At each stop, riders select a poker chip, and the totals are tallied up at the endpoint, Yavis’.
There will be food, drinks and a silent auction with great items donated by local individuals and businesses.
One of the organizers, Ellie Noel, explains in the first year, the run was able to raise $13,000 to support a family who was going through the tragic loss of its patriarch. In year two, they raised $10,000 for Drumheller Fire and Rescue. They were able to purchase a defibrillator.
This year, they are directing the funds raised to Drumheller Community Football for the Titans.
“We decided it was a great idea to help the kids in the community this year,” said Noel.
The silent auction will run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Brian Lannigan will be performing that evening.
