Students at the Morrin School will not only have a new school to look forward to, they will also have a new playground to go with it.
Construction of the new playground is being supported by Alberta government’s New School Grant for Playgrounds.
“The Alberta government gave the $250,000 for the new playground, as they do for new schools,” Chief Deputy Superintendent Steven Nielsen told the Mail.
Although Shunda Construction was awarded the contract to build the new Morrin School, they will not be involved in the new playground build. Mr. Nielsen explains this will be contracted out separately.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new school and playground is scheduled for Friday, June 17 beginning at 2 p.m. with a community BBQ hosted by the Friends of Morrin School Council to follow at 5 p.m.
