Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced a one time funding support for continuing and long-term care facilities on Wednesday, February 3.
The additional funding will help to offset increased costs for staffing, cleaning supplies, and personal protective equipment (PPE) needed to help protect vulnerable Alberta residents.
“This funding is part of the more than $260 million we’ve invested to support the safety of residents and staff at long-term care, designated supportive living facilities, and at senior’s lodges,” Premier Kenney said during the announcement.
A total of $68.5 million will be split among various sectors, including non-contracted licensed supportive living ($48 million), residential addiction and mental health treatment facilities ($9.9 million), as well as home care ($9.6 million) and residential community hospice care ($1 million).
No information was available regarding funding support for the Sunshine Lodge or Hillview Lodge at the time of publication.
