Spring cleanup cancelled

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb a6e8

One popular Drumheller program has unfortunately been cancelled this spring, however, residents will still get a break when they are cleaning up.
The annual Spring Clean-up has been popular for years. Each spring town workers go neighbourhood to neighbourhood picking up refuse. It goes a long way toward the community’s efforts to present a clean and tidy Drumheller.
However, due to the concerns over the Coronavirus virus the cleanup has been cancelled this year. The town will not be doing curbside pickup.
The town has however allowed residents the opportunity to self haul household refuse material to the Drumheller landfill free of charge.
According to a release, all household, nondemolition/construction materials identified under the acceptable items’ category will be accepted free of charge at the Drumheller and District Regional Landfill from April 6 – April 25. The material will need to be tracked and all loads weighed; however, the disposal fees for acceptable items will be waived for Town of Drumheller residents.
Residents will be expected to deliver and offload their materials themselves; Landfill personnel will direct them to the appropriate drop off points and bins for the various materials while maintaining the 2-meter physical distancing policy.
Freon disposal rate of $15/unit will be waived for Town of Drumheller residents and demolition, construction, renovation materials as listed below will be accepted, however, there will be a disposal fee imposed as in previous years.
An entire list of what materials are acceptable is posted at  https://floodreadiness.drumheller.ca/drumheller-valley-spring-clean-up-update/
