This week, students in Drumheller will be celebrating the legacy of Terry Fox, participating in the annual School Walk and Run.
St. Anthony’s has built a tradition of participating in the Terry Fox Run. Over the last 15 years, it has raised more than $100,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation. They hope to continue this tradition this year. Last year the school raised more than $11,000, and their goal is to top last year. This year the high school recreational leadership class has been selling Freezie Pops during lunch hour to raise funds for the walk.
Students will be on course this Thursday, September 26. They are planning to have a speaker before they head out on the walk.
Students at Drumheller Valley Secondary School (DVSS) are also participating in the Terry Fox Run. On Thursday, September 19 the school held its annual cake auction. All kinds of sweets were up on the auction block as students pooled their funds together to buy the confections. In all, they raised $2,168. This week they also did a Toonie for Terry Drive.
DVSS will be taking part in the walk on Thursday, September 26.
Greentree School will also be participating in the Terry Fox School Run on September 26. They have supported the walk for many years and the whole school will be participating.
