Six businesses receive storefront grants

Six Drumheller businesses have received money from the town to spruce up their store fronts.

The Economic Development Advisory Committee approved funding for R&J Flowers, The Royal Den of Hair Connoisseurs, Reality Bytes, Drumheller Denture Clinic, Caracol Clay Studio and Gallery, and Water Pure and Simple.

“It is great to have businesses embrace the opportunity to improve their storefront appearance,” said Mayor Heather Colberg. “The storefront grant program is an important economic development initiative to support the development and beautification of our town.”

This year’s six recipients is an increase from only two awardees last year.

The Economic Development Advisory Committee is made up of elected officials, members of the administration team at the Town of Drumheller and volunteer members of the business

community.

The storefront grants are matching grants with the business and Town of Drumheller sharing the costs, up to a maximum grant of $2,500. If businesses have difficulty managing the initial outlay for the project they can work with Community Futures who have offered to give those businesses selected an interest free loan.
