The community was treated to popcorn and a movie in the plaza courtesy of a few local businesses on Thursday, August 23rd.

The musical  ‘The Greatest Showman’ was screened for people at the downtown plaza in the late evening, with snacks and drinks provided by sponsors.

“The idea came from a project that our Airdrie office worked on with the Century 21 PowerRealty office in Airdrie,” remarked Landon Bosch of Centre Street Insurance. “People from Drumheller saw our social media feeds and suggested we could do the same in Drumheller at the downtown plaza, so we approached Mayor Colberg and things just started to happen.”

To play a movie in public you must secure the distribution rights for the movie. Earlier in the week, Centre Street Insurance, Reality Bytes, and Century 21 PowerRealty.ca quickly agreed to split the cost of pop, popcorn, and the movie and the wheels were in motion.

“We love seeing all of the activity at the plaza and this was just one more thing to add to the attractions in the downtown core. We hope to set up a few of them downtown in 2019,” said John Shoff of Reality Bytes.

The organizers wish to thank the town administration for their support and blessing.
